BREVARD COUNTY • KENNEDY SPACE CENTER – Six Cocoa Police SWAT officers spent last week at Kennedy Space Center attending a SWAT school. They expanded their tactical knowledge and skills in scenarios involving barricaded subjects, hostage rescue, breaching tactics, and other critical incidents requiring a tactical response.

This kind of specialized training makes them better and helps improve our level of service during any critical incident response.

Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) is a highly trained team of officers called upon during critical incidents such as barricaded subject, active shooter, building searches, high risk search warrants, dignitary protection and other incidents requiring a special response.

The SWAT team is always on call, ready to assist the police department and citizens of Cocoa. The team is prepared to handle any critical incident through continual training, risk assessment, and the proper use of resources.
