BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA– Ernel Guy Hiser, 82, passed away on March 7, 2023. Guy was born in Anna, Illinois, on December 1, 1940.

He was raised in St. Albans, WV. He attended Southern Illinois University for several years. He then joined the Air Force for five years, most of that time in England.

Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he visited his brother in Miami and met Barbara on a blind date. They married six months later and settled in Miami, and then moved to Brevard County, Florida, in 1984.

They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary a month before he passed.

Guy obtained a commercial art degree from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and spent many years self-employed in Miami. When he moved to Brevard County, he worked with Gary in custom home construction, then gained employment at the Space Center, from which he retired in 2005.

He loved working at the Space Center and was very proud of his time there. He followed rocket launches and space center progress up to his passing.

Guy loved fishing, golfing, reading, and frequently traveling with Barbara and their pets in his RV.

The word that best describes Guy is “integrity.” He had a huge smile and twinkling eyes showed kindness to everyone, and was uncompromising in practicing The Golden Rule. He also enjoyed discussing his conservative political views with others.

His passing has left a huge void among those that knew and loved him, but he left the world a better place.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Elliott Hiser; brothers Albert E. Hiser (wife, late Carol), of Indianapolis, IN, Gary L. Hiser (wife, Ann) of Granbury, Tx; and Glenn G. Hiser (wife, Roddy) of Mansfield, Tx. He had numerous extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1 p.m. at The Grove Church, 1450 Harrison Street, Titusville, FL 32780. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to National Veterans Homeless Support or your local animal shelter.
