Palm Bay Police Department Swears-In Police Academy Graduates, Previous Explorers, as Newest Officers

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Department officials announced several recruits have been officially sworn in as PBPD’s newest officers.
“Congratulations to our new recruits who graduated from the police academy last night. It’s been a long five months, and they successfully completed the rigorous training. We are proud of them!” said PBPD officials.
Jake Dalton, Olivia Meloni, and Raelynn Neff were previous police explorers under the leadership and mentorship of Sergeant Tobar.
Sergeant Tabor, age 54, died as a result of contracting coronavirus while on duty. He had served with the agency for more than 17 years, and was a leader in the Police Explorers programs.
“We know they have made him proud, and he’s smiling down at their accomplishments,” said Palm Bay Police Department officials.
The PBPD employs more than 135 sworn officers who patrol and provide services to approximately 107,000 residents in an area of more than 68 square miles. They are also responsible for over three square miles of beach frontage and waterways.
The department is a full-service agency that includes a marine division, a patrol division and SWAT.
