Port Canaveral Hosts New York City Fire Department Marine Operations Unit for LNG Fire Safety Training

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – New York City firefighters from the FDNY Marine Operations Unit attended the LNG Training Facility at the Port Canaveral Maritime Training Academy this week, training in Liquefied Natural Gas fire safety.

They came to Port Canaveral, America’s first LNG cruise port, to prepare for the future arrival of LNG cruise ships to NY Harbor.

The 12 firefighters, including firefighters up the ranks to Chief Officer, attended classes and field training exercises.

Port Canaveral Maritime Firefighting Academy is a state-of-the-art training facility for shipboard personnel and firefighters.

Centrally located between Jacksonville and Miami on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, Port Canaveral is next to Kennedy Space Center and 45 minutes east of Orlando.

Over the past 20 years, thousands of professional mariners, U.S. Coast Guard and Navy personnel, and professional firefighters have completed courses at the PCMA.

PCMA also provides tailored training based on customer requirements and deployable consulting services for all fire program requirements.
