BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College baseball team scored twice in the bottom of the 12th inning to pick up a conference win Saturday afternoon.

The Titans defeated Florida Southwestern 3-2 in 12 innings on Saturday to improve to 22-23 overall and 5-12 in the Southern Conference.

Seven Titans pitchers combined to allow just two runs over the 12 innings. After Florida Southwestern scored in the top of the 12th inning, the Bucs got a quick first out. “Crazy home run by Eddiel, just coming up clutch, AD too with the double, I just wanted to do that too and trade places with him,” Maldanado said. “It was a curveball and I got a hit last time off a curveball from him so I was sitting curveball and just waited for it.”

Dalton Robinson started the game and struck out nine hitters over 6 1/3 innings allowing just one run. Brady Guthrie then struck out two of the three hitters he faced giving way to Grayson Adams who retired the only batter he faced.

Anthony Cordero tossed 2 1/3 innings of strong relief, to send the game to the 11th inning. Friday night’s starter KC Swords came in and struck out the first two guys he faced looking but left after giving up a double to Nathan Earley in the 12th inning. Earley would later score to give Florida Southwestern a lead.

Ryne Wallace doubled and scored on Jacob Vermeire’s single in the fifth inning.

Maldanado finished with three hits and a couple of stolen bases while Zach Taylor, Tolentino and Vermeire each had two hits.
