DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College Cheerleading Team earned third place in their division at the National Cheerleaders Association  Collegiate Nationals.

The competition was held April 6-7 at the Ocean Center Arena in Daytona Beach, with preliminary events on Thursday and the finals on Friday.

This was the second year that Titans cheerleaders competed at the NCA event, where they earned a fifth-place finish last year.

This year, the EFSC Cheer team competed in the Intermediate All-Girl Junior College Division after receiving a Bronze-level bid to attend based on their performance during an NCA cheer camp held at EFSC’s Melbourne campus last October.

The EFSC Cheerleading team consists of the following students: Captains Chelsi Balint and Cheyenne True, Alexandra Hays, Victoria Kaplan, Melanie Novas, Lindsay Didion, Brooke Beecher, Chloe Winterroth, Courtney Halter, Gabi Caligiuri, Isis Snowden, Jenna Lowe, Jordan Giuliani, Nicole Vitaliano, Saniah Smith, Shelleen Tassinari, Sierra Chatwood, Violet Dobbs, and Sean Noble.

“We were really excited to return to the competition this year and represent Eastern Florida State College at the 2023 NCA College Nationals,” said EFSC Associate Professor Ashley Olund, who coaches the squad along with Jessica Matheny.

“We were in a tough division, but we were able to pull through and bring home some hardware for EFSC,” said Team Captain Cheyenne True.

Tryouts for the upcoming season will be announced soon. For more information contact the coach at olunda@easternflorida.edu
