BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s golf team finished second at the NJCAA Southeast District Championships and earned a spot in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the second straight season.
The Titans shot the best round of the day at River Falls Plantation in Duncan, South Carolina, shooting a 307 in the final round Tuesday.
The second-place finish is also a program record and marks the first time the women’s golf team has qualified for the national tournament after making it as an at-large team last year. It will be the team’s second time to play for a national title in school history.
“Huge day for EFSC as we qualified for the national tournament and finished ahead of one of the top teams in the nation,” Eastern Florida State College women’s golf coach Jamie Howell said. “Awesome job by Sarah, Gracie, and good comeback from Savannah. On to Kansas!”
Freshman Sarah Knitter finished third in the tournament, shooting a 74 in the second round to finish with a 151. Teammate Gracie Doke also shot a 74 and tied for sixth with a 154. Morela Boyd tied for ninth with a 157 and Savannah Hawthorne was 11th overall after shooting a 77.
Seminole State College won the district title, shooting a 304 in the final round. Daytona State College finished third.
