Florida Tech Panthers Men’s Rowing Team Win’s Big at FIRA Championship Regatta

Panthers competed in four events, placed first in three

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The men’s rowing team is bringing home some hardware after Saturday’s racing at the FIRA Championship Regatta at Nathan Benderson Park.

The Panthers competed in four events, placing first in three.

The Varsity 8+ got the day started, outpacing its competitors and crossing the line in 5:55.11.

Jacksonville finished 3.32 seconds later, followed by Stetson (6:04.51), Embry-Riddle (6:12.46), UCF (6:20.96), Rollins (6:22.64), and Florida State (7:07.46).

Hayden Linkel (Stroke) and Omer Bayram (Bow) represented Tech in the M2-. The men sprinted to a second-place finish of 7:17.78, 6.39 seconds behind Steston, and 2:44.94 ahead of Jacksonville.

In the M2x, Arnedas Kelmelis (Stroke) and Zach Judge (Bow), posted a blistering time of 7:21.53 to outrace Jacksonville by 55.94.

Capping off the day was the V4+ competing in a field of seven. The crew claimed first in 6:35.81, edging out Embry-Riddle (6:39.07) and Jacksonville (6:41.33).

Stetson took fourth in 6:54.03 followed by UF (6:54.47), Rollins (7:02.08), and UCF (7:23.95).
