OBITUARY: Vietnam Veteran Timothy C. Smith, 74, Passed Away April 6

BREVARD COUNTY, MELBOURNE• FLORIDA – Timothy C. Smith, age 74, returned home to the arms of our Lord on April 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Melbourne, Florida.

Born May 8, 1948, to Vivian and John Smith in AuSable Forks, NY. He was a Cold Spring area resident for most of his life, graduating from Haldane High School in 1966.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 and was a Vietnam veteran. Tim retired in 2003 after 36 years of service at New York State Electric and Gas, Brewster, NY.

On December 20, 1969, at St. Mary’s Church, Cold Spring, Tim married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Masland Smith, who survives at home.

Besides his loving wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children, Vicki Smith (Steve) Polletta, Eric (Ashly) Smith, his grandson Dustin Smith, and granddaughters Ashley Smith, Samantha Polletta, Jessica Polletta, Alyssa Polletta, Vanessa Polletta, Alexis Smith, Jordan Smith and 4 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the late Vivian and John Smith, by his infant grandson, Jonathan Smith, and one sister.

Tim’s greatest joy came from enjoying family time and fun, especially with his beloved grandkids and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed RV traveling, snowbirding for many years, fishing, kayaking, woodworking, reading, and many other activities.

A graveside service, with military honors, was held on April 17, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Palm Bay, Florida. Memorial donations in memory of Tim may be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
