WATCH: Home Burglary Suspect Arrested After Brevard County Resident Nabs Perp Using Video Surveillance

ABOVE VIDEO: John Hicks has been charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Petit Theft, after he was caught on surveillance committing home burglary.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier this morning, one of our citizens was alerted to motion inside his residence by his security cameras and when he opened his cameras to see what was moving he was startled to see a male subject wearing all black with his face and head completely covered.
The victim quickly alerted our agency to a burglary in progress at his residence and as you might expect, our Deputies and Agents got there lickity-split and snatched his little thieving butt up.
As you can see, the video surveillance camera actually caught the little bandit, John Hicks, carrying a safe through the residence and then attempting to pry it open in another room.
Deputies entered the residence and found Hicks hiding under the bed like a little baby who is scared of the big bad boogie man.
When they pulled him out from under the bed he had all sorts of stolen property in his pockets.
Hicks was given a ride to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” by our resort transportation shuttle where he was booked into a room with no view, for Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Petit Theft.
Including resort fees, bed tax, and room service, the amount due at checkout is $7,500.
Another great job by our Deputies and Agents in partnership with our citizens to get this scumbag off our streets.
