Palm Bay Police SWAT Team Snipers Finish in Top 10 at SniperWeek in St. Petersburg

PBPD team ranked 8th out of 50 teams competing
BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Department snipers from the SWAT Team attended SniperWeek 2023 in St. Petersburg, hosted by the American Sniper Association.
Officers participated in a two-day conference, followed by a two-day competition, with one of Palm Bay’s teams ranking 8th out of 50 teams competing.
“We’re proud of our officer’s dedication to their craft as they represented us well,” said a Palm Bay Police spokesperson.
The Palm Bay Police Department’s S.W.A.T. Team is a highly trained and skilled tactical team used for deployment to critical incidents.
It has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police officers, and suspects and usually results in a successful and safe resolution.
The S.W.A.T. Team is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Some of the incidents this highly trained team handles are hostage situations, barricade situations, high-risk apprehensions, and high-risk warrant services.
Team members have other primary assignments within the Department and serve on the team only when required.
