(FWC) – Do you enjoy recreational boating with your family and friends on Florida’s beautiful waterways?

Florida Fish & Wildlife officers do too. Kick off National Safe Boating Week with these tips from Officer Hausler to keep your family safe on the water, just like his.

The FWC’s Division of Law Enforcement works to provide safe and enjoyable boating for the people of Florida and its visitors through the effective and coordinated management of our waterways.

They will strive to work with all stakeholders when developing rules and making statutory recommendations. FWC will accomplish this by incorporating sound scientific data, reasonable public input, and common sense.

They will work to formulate the best solutions possible without jeopardizing our natural resources or our freedom to navigate.

For anyone born on or after January 1, 1988, who will be operating a boat in Florida waters with an engine of ten (10) horsepower or more, the law requires them to complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Florida Boating Safety ID Card.

This card is not a boating license, it is a certification that the person named on the card has successfully completed the required boating safety course. The card does not expire. You can find information on how to obtain the card HERE.
