Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Urges Drivers Put the Phone Down ‘Don’t Text and Drive’

About 3,000 People Die in Auto Accidents Due to Distracted Driving Every Year

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Distracted driving can take your life or someone else’s life in a split second.

Regardless, if you are distracted because you are texting, talking on the phone, adjusting the radio, dealing with the kids, checking your make-up, or like me, looking for the last french fry in the bag, it only takes a second to rob someone of their future.

At the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, we want everyone to Arrive Alive, so we are asking you, begging you, and pleading with you, to put the phone down and keep your eyes on the roadway.

No matter how important that text may be, it’s not more important than you and everyone around you arriving safely at their destination.

So let’s all remember that while you are driving is not the time to check your text messages, but instead it’s the time to keep your eyes on the road so you can get home safely to whomever it was texting you.

And if you just have to text while driving, please don’t be mad at our Motor Unit for stopping you and writing you a citation, as they already have very low self-esteem and almost never smile when they are writing you a ticket.
