Dr. Mark Rendell Takes BPS Superintendent’s Oath of Office, Will Begin New Role Starting Today

WATCH: Meet the new superintendent for Brevard Public Schools. Dr. Mark Rendell has been selected as the next superintendent for Brevard Public Schools, and his tenure will begin on June 1. The school board selected Dr. Rendell as superintendent during a specially called meeting on May 2. The agreement runs for three years. Dr. Rendell has been the principal of Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School since 2019. Before coming to Cocoa Beach, Dr. Rendell was the superintendent of the Indian River County Schools. In Brevard County, he has also been a principal at Titusville High and an assistant principal at Melbourne High, Eau Gallie High and Cocoa High.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Dr. Mark Rendell took the ceremonial Brevard Public Schools Superintendent’s Oath of Office during the BPS Board meeting on Tuesday evening and will begin his new role on June 1.

During the ceremony, Dr. Rendell said it would take teamwork to move forward and that he is dedicated to Brevard students and their families.

Before coming to Cocoa Beach, Dr. Rendell was the superintendent of Indian River County Schools. In Brevard County, he has also been a principal at Titusville High and an assistant principal at Melbourne High, Eau Gallie High, and Cocoa High.

“I look forward to working with all the members of the school board and the district staff to support the work in the classroom. This will be a team effort, and I believe that if we all work together, we can achieve excellence,” Dr. Rendell said shortly after being selected.
