Eastern Florida State College Tennis Players Hugo Car, Lucas Gonzalez Earns ITA JUCO All-America Honors

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis players Hugo Car and Lucas Gonzalez have earned ITA JUCO Men’s All-America honors for the 2022-23 season.

Car was named in both singles and doubles as the freshman reached the semifinals of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament as a freshman. Car finished the season ranked third in the nation in singles.

Car teamed with sophomore Lucas Gonzalez to be one of the top doubles teams in the nation and also received ITA JUCO Men’s All-America honors.

Car and Gonzalez teamed up at No. 1 doubles for the Titans and reached the semifinals of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

Eastern Florida State College finished first in the Region IV Rankings as Car is the No. 1 singles player in Region IV and he teamed with Gonzalez for the No. 1 doubles team in the region.

The men’s tennis team has been to the national tournament five ties under Cashman and finished in the top seven every time. The third place finish was the best finish in program history.
