BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) has 360,000 members in hundreds of chapters around the nation and overseas.
Florida has 39 chapters of the organization, with the largest located on the Space Coast.
On Wednesday, June 28 at 1 p.m., the leadership of the Cape Canaveral Chapter of MOAA will meet at One Senior Place to provide area non-chapter MOAA members and other interested active, former, and retired military officers and their spouses with an update on the legislative efforts of the organization.
Retired U.S. Army Colonel Steve Bond will lead the discussion at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera and also provide a chapter overview for attendees.
MOAA is the nation’s largest and most influential association of military officers. It is an independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization. Non-MOAA members or those unaffiliated with the Cape Canaveral chapter are encouraged to attend the gathering.
RSVP online at www.OneSeniorPlace.com or call One Senior Place at 321-751-6771.
The Cape Canaveral Chapter supports MOAA’s aims by advocating for national and state legislative actions protecting the rights and interests of veterans, uniformed services retirees, active duty personnel, and their dependents and survivors. Bond is the Vice President of MOAA’s Florida Council of Chapters.
“MOAA’s national legislative efforts this year focused on supporting the all-volunteer force, restoring the TRICARE pharmacy network and restoring the basic allowance for housing to one hundred percent,” said Colonel Bond.
“I have information to share on all of those topics as well as an update on legislation impacting veterans from the recent session in Tallahassee. I also look forward to welcoming those who may be interested in joining our local MOAA chapter. We are an active service and social organization. And as our motto says, we ‘Never Stop Serving.'”
As an affiliate of MOAA National, MOAACC is dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense and preserving the commitments and benefits for all active military, veterans, and their family members. For more information, visit www.MOAACC.org.
