BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Robert (Doc) Roscoe Callahan was born in Orlando, Florida, and met the love of his life, Martha Mae Page, at Sanford High School. He was a member of the Air Force until 1946 and married her at the end of his service.
Robert attended the University of Georgia on a baseball scholarship and then the University of Maryland Dental School on the GI bill. After graduation, he opened his dental practice in Indialantic where he practiced until his retirement in 1989.
He and Martha had 8 children; Susan, David, Kit, Pat, Scott, Mark, Jenni, and Jill. They had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other children that adopted them.
Sadly Martha passed away in 2006, but he was fortunate enough to connect with the second love of his life, Anna K. Poe. They had 15 wonderful years together before her passing.
His family and friends had many amazing experiences with him in his “toys”, many of which he built himself which included a commercial fishing boat, an airboat, two helicopters, a Sea Ray amphibian, and a Piper Cub aircraft.
His love of fishing, diving, flying, skiing, and traveling was second to the love he had for his family. Anyone that knew him would tell you that he was an “amazing man!”
There will be a memorial service at Brownlie/Maxwell funeral home on June 24 at 4 p.m. and there will be a celebration of life at the home of Bruce and Kit Alles on July 2nd at 12 o’clock.
Close friends and family are welcome to come to celebrate.
