Republican Liberty Caucus of Brevard Announces Launch and Sponsorship of Resolution to Amend City Charter of Palm Bay

Charter Amendment Petition Drive Set for Palm Bay Independence Day Celebration on July 2

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Republican Liberty Caucus of Brevard announced Monday the launch and sponsorship of a transformative resolution to amend the City Charter of Palm Bay, Florida.

This charter amendment seeks to establish the principles of fiscal responsibility and transparency, aiming to ensure a stable financial future for Palm Bay, a city with debt totaling over $272,223,199 which is 99% of the city’s total revenues in 2022, and debt payments over $22 million dollars a year.

The city is facing financial catastrophe, struggling or failing to meet basic obligations like police, fire and pensions and using a credit card of bonds which is mortagaging the future.

“Adopting a balanced budget and prohibiting deficit spending are fundamental steps towards a sustainable fiscal path for Palm Bay,” said Josiah Gattle, Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Brevard.

“This amendment is designed to protect the fiscal integrity of our city and the financial wellbeing of our residents.”

Adopting a balanced budget and prohibiting deficit spending are fundamental steps towards a sustainable fiscal path for Palm Bay,” said Josiah Gattle, Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Brevard. “This amendment is designed to protect the fiscal integrity of our city and the financial wellbeing of our residents.”

The resolution, divided into three sections, mandates the adoption of a balanced budget, imposes a maximum spending limitation, and stipulates a cap on total debts, laying the groundwork for strong fiscal discipline.

“In honor of our Independence Day, we will be launching our Charter Amendment Petition Drive at the Palm Bay Independence Day Celebration on July 2nd at the Palm Bay Campus of Eastern Florida State College starting at 5 pm until the fireworks commence at 9 pm, at the Republican Liberty Caucus tent,” said Gattle.

“We will be gathering signatures in our quest to restore financial independence to our beloved Palm Bay by truly balancing the budget and freeing our city from its debilitating debt. We are delighted to be working alongside members of the Brevard Republican Executive Committee and the Federated Republican Women in Action. This collaborative effort marks an exciting partnership to effect real change for Palm Bay.”

The Republican Liberty Caucus tent will be the hub of activity with literature, petitions, water, and freeze-pops on offer.

“We encourage you to drop by, sign our petition, pick up literature, or simply show your support as we commence our journey to restore balanced budgets.,” said Gattle.

Nathan White, former candidate for Palm Bay City Council and current Treasurer of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Brevard, highlighted the caucus’s desire for partnerships. “Unity is our best hope,” said White. “We are eager to work with other organizations dedicated to bringing fiscal responsibility to all 17 of Brevard’s cities. Together, we can ensure our cities are on a path of economic stability and resilience.”

In light of this outreach effort, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Brevard’s regular meeting scheduled for July 2 has been canceled and the next regular meeting will take place on August 7 at at Kay’s Real Pit BBQ, located at 1552 W King Street in Cocoa.
