BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I share with you this morning, the loss of one of our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office family members, Lieutenant Todd Maddox, who late yesterday afternoon lost his battle with cancer as he passed away at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.
Todd was not only an incredible member of our team, but he was also an amazing family man, great cop, and a great friend to so many of us.
Throughout his courageous battle, Todd never let on that he was hurting, but instead came to work each and every day with a smile on his face, doing the job he loved so much and serving with his BCSO family to protect our community.
Todd began his career with our agency in 1990 and climbed through the ranks to the position of Lieutenant where he proudly served our agency until his brief retirement in 2020.
I say brief retirement because Todd rejoined the Sheriff’s Office the very next day as a School Resource Deputy doing what he loved so much…wearing the badge and protecting others.
Todd would eventually rotate back out to Patrol Services as a Deputy Sheriff in our Canaveral Precinct where he remained until his passing.
For over 33 years, Todd proudly served our agency and community with pride and honor.
Todd leaves behind an agency that loved him dearly, an incredible family, and so many friends that are deeply hurting with the news of his passing.
On behalf of our entire agency we ask you to keep Todd and his family in your thoughts and prayers, and as always, thank you for loving our team members so much.
Our community lost a great public servant and friend yesterday and we were all blessed to have spent time with him.
