Pedestrian Dies in Early Morning Crash With Vehicle in the 2000 Block of State Road A1A in Cocoa Beach

A pedestrian has died following an early morning collision with a vehicle that occurred in the 2000 block of North Atlantic Avenue (State Road A1A). According to Cocoa Beach Police Sergeant Michael Mock, on Saturday, at approximately 12:32 a.m., officers responded to the northbound lanes of North Atlantic Avenue in the 2000 block to a report of a pedestrian struck by a northbound vehicle.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – A pedestrian has died following an early morning collision with a vehicle that occurred in the 2000 block of North Atlantic Avenue (State Road A1A).

According to Cocoa Beach Police Sergeant Michael Mock, on Saturday, at approximately 12:32 a.m., officers responded to the northbound lanes of North Atlantic Avenue in the 2000 block to a report of a pedestrian struck by a northbound vehicle.

Sergeant Mock said the pedestrian was a male in his early 50s, and was transported to a nearby hospital before being pronounced deceased by medical staff.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The span of the accident scene required the shutdown of both directions of travel on North Atlantic Avenue, but an alternative route is currently available.

Cocoa Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to the scene, and are still investigating.

The names of the driver and pedestrian are being withheld by authorities pending notifications of next of kin.
