Registration Now Open: 2023 Waterman’s Challenge Longboard Competition for Surfers Over 40 Set Sept. 23

This is the 22th Annual Waterman's Challenge for a full day of fun and surfing.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 2023 Waterman’s Challenge, set for Sept. 23, is a Longboard Competition for Surfers 40 and over and will be held at the Cocoa Beach Hilton, located at 1550 N. Atlantic Avenue. The action will start at 8 a.m.

On-line registration is now open HERE and there is a single entry fee of $25. You can enter as many divisions as you wish. Late registration will be $35 and will be held Friday, September 22 at the Hilton, Cocoa Beach from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be no refunds. And no beach registration.

If there are slots left you can register in person Friday September 22, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton ($35 late entry fee).

Divisions (NOTE, no short board divisions):

■ Men’s Longboard, board 9’0″ or longer: 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.
■ Women’s Longboard, board 9’0: or longer: 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.
■ Vintage, board 9’0″ or longer – open division
■ Surf-N-Turf, board 9’0″ or longer – open division
■ Luck O’ the Draw – open division
■ Scholastic Team Challenge – Teams pay $100 entry fee, do not pay the $25 admission fee.

Vintage: Must have been manufactured before 1970, 9’0″ or larger, single fin only. A limited number of vintage boards will be available for those who do not own one.

SURF & TURF: Entrants must have a 9′ or longer board. You catch a wave, come in and chip shot a golf ball into a ring (hula hoop). When you are successful at that, go catch another wave and repeat as many times as you can during the 20 minute heats. CONTESTANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN BOARD.

Trophies in all divisions for 1st through 3rd.

All entrants receive T-shirt.

Trophies for Best Surfer and Best Nose Ride Overall, Men’s and Women’s divisions awarded by Bob Freeman. First Place Surfer in each division will join the contest judges to be a honorary judge for the next division to surf.

Tent sponsors and Division sponsors must be paid NLT August 20 to get logo on t-shirts.

The surfing heat schedule is subject to change. You must keep yourself posted on any schedule changes that may occur and understand it is your responsibility to do so.
