Three Eastern Florida State College Women’s Golfers Named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team

Fernandez and Knitter each had a 4.0 grade point average

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Three Eastern Florida State College women’s golfers were named to the 2022-23 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.

Gabrielle Fernandez, Jasmine Yang and Sarah Knitter were all named to the scholar team. Fernandez and Knitter each had a 4.0 grade point average while Yang had a 3.69.

To be selected, the student-athlete must have an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher and play in 50 percent of the team’s matches during the season.

It is the second straight season that Fernandez has been named to the WGCA Scholar Team. The women’s golf team placed eighth overall at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Garden City, Kansas and Knitter was named to All-American second team.

Overall, 1,401 women’s collegiate golfers from 378 programs were recognized by the WGCA.
