UPDATE: Man Shot in Melbourne on Cedar Drive Dies at Hospital, Case Being Investigated as Domestic Violence

Melbourne Police have released more information on the fatal shooting that happened on June 25 at 2:55 a.m.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police have released more information on the fatal shooting that happened on 800 Cedar Dr. on June 25 at 2:55 a.m.

According to the police report, Melbourne Police Officers responded to a domestic violence call where a woman stated her boyfriend (identified as Ronald Gordon) attacked her and attempted to rip her necklace from her neck.

The girlfriend retrieved a firearm she had possessed and shot Gordon who then fled on foot.

Gordon had also called the police stating he had been shot.

When he was located by officers, he became unresponsive and was transported to HRMC where he remained in intensive care.

On Wednesday, July 5, Gordon died as a result of this incident.

The girlfriend’s name is being withheld at this time due to requirements established by Marsy’s Law.

This investigation is ongoing, police say.
