BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The No. 18 Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team will open the regular season Friday evening at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans will be hosting St. Petersburg College in the opener at 6 p.m. St. Petersburg College is ranked No. 10 in the Region 8 Division II poll while the Titans begin the season at No. 3 in the Division I rankings.

“We are very excited for our season to start and very happy and pleased with how our team has worked together during the preseason and our scrimmages so far,” Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said.

“I am very proud of the team being ranked, they have worked really hard for it but we still have a lot to accomplish because we want more. Our goal is to improve and do better than last year and I hope that we can accomplish the main goal of qualifying for the national tournament for the first time in program history.”

Eastern Florida State College returns nine players from last year’s team that won 19 games and placed third in the state tournament. Among the returners are Emma Kiser, Sofia Kamke, and Gaia Riedmuller who were all named to the all-Suncoast Conference team last season.

“Very excited for our sophomore class who has shown a lot of maturity on the court but have also been impressed with the freshman class that is playing up to our expectations and giving our sophomores a lot of competition in the gym,” Eleutiza said.
