Five Florida Tech Panthers Softball Players Named Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Five Panthers were recognized for their academic success on Tuesday afternoon when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 2022-23 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.
In order to qualify as an All-America Scholar-Athlete players must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the entire academic year.
■ Mikayla Lewin maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and earned her master’s degree in civil engineering.
■ Cheyenne Nelson recently graduated with her master’s degree in Engineering Management, holding a 3.7 GPA.
■ Chloe French received her MBA with a 3.62 GPA.
■ Kelly McLaughlin is working towards her degree in Marketing earning a 3.86 GPA.
■ Allison Platon earned her master’s degree in Biochemistry with a 3.5 GPA.
Over 1,700 NCAA Division II, scholar-athletes joined the five Panthers in being awarded for their achievements in the classroom.
As a team, the Panthers finished 85th nationally, with a team GPA of 3.32 for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Head coach Val Silvestrini and the Panthers finished the 2023 season with a 28-22 overall record going 16-14 in conference play.
