Two Disturbances Form in the Atlantic near Cabo Verde Islands: NHC Report

xBREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is monitoring a couple of disturbances that are forming in the Atlantic off the Cabo Verde Islands off the coast of Africa as hurricane season enters the peak of the season.

Experts at the National Hurricane Center say the first disturbance is a tropical wave is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms a few hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Development, if any, of this system should be slow to occur while it moves westward to west-northward at about 15 mph across the tropical Atlantic through the end of the week.

The system currently has a 10-percent chance of forming into a tropical depression.

The second disturbance National Hurricane Center is closely watching is area of low pressure could develop by the middle to latter portion of this week over the central tropical Atlantic.

Some slow development of this system is also possible while it moves west-northwestward through the end of the week.

The system currently has a 30-percent chance of forming into a tropical depression.
