BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County students went back to school on Thursday to kickoff the 2023-2024 school year.

“The wait is over, and a new chapter begins,” said BPS in a released statement. “It’s the first day of school, a day filled with possibilities, friendships, and exciting journeys. Let’s kick-start this school year with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a whole lot of positive energy!”

“Embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s to a year of growth, laughter, and boundless opportunities. Let’s make it a day to remember!”

This year, BPS has a new Superintendent in Mark J. Rendell, Ed.D. Sworn in on June 1, Dr. Rendell was previously the superintendent of Indian River County Schools.

In Brevard County, he has also been a principal at Titusville High and an assistant principal at Melbourne High, Eau Gallie High, and Cocoa High.

His most recent job was Principal at Cocoa Beach High School.

“I look forward to working with all the members of the school board and the district staff to support the work in the classroom. This will be a team effort, and I believe that if we all work together, we can achieve excellence,” Dr. Rendell said shortly after being selected.
