WATCH: Man Killed After Crane Catches Fire at Construction Site at Valencia Street and San Filippo Drive in Palm Bay

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police officers and Palm Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to a house under construction at the corner of Valencia St. and San Filippo Drive after a crane accident involving power lines.

One man was killed after a crane caught fire in Palm Bay Wednesday morning at a house under construction at the corner of Valencia St. and San Filippo Drive.

According to Palm Bay Fire Rescue, on arrival, the cab of the crane was on fire and a man was on the ground next to it.

“Fire personnel were able to remove the male, Kester L. Gittens, 34, from the immediate vicinity of the crane but he was pronounced deceased on scene,” said a Palm Bay Fire Rescue spokesperson.

The incident caused a fire and power outage, according to a spokesperson for the Palm Bay Police Department.

OSHA is on scene investigating the accident.
