Bicyclist Dies After Crash in Titusville on Garden Street Last Weekend

Titusville Police are investigating a fatal crash involving.a bicyclist that happened on Saturday near Garden St.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist that happened on Saturday near Garden St.

According to Amy Matthews of the Titusville Police Department, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 2) Titusville Police responded to a report of a traffic crash with injuries involving a vehicle and a bicycle near the 1200 block of Garden Street.

The preliminary investigation revealed 57-year-old John Jay Connelly, of Titusville, was traveling eastbound in the bicycle lane on Garden Street and was subsequently struck by a 2015 silver Ford Explorer driven by 33-year-old Brittany Michelle Henderson, of Titusville, when the bicyclist made an abrupt left turn on his bicycle into eastbound motor vehicle traffic.

Connelly was airlifted to a local hospital where he died from his injuries on Tuesday, September 5, at approximately 3 a.m..

There were no other injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
