Cocoa Police Department Swears-In Two New Police Officers

Officer Edward Hartzell and Officer Brian Fredette

Edward Hartzell has been a law enforcement officer for more than 4-years. He was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida. He is the middle of three children. He was a defensive back for Kentucky Christian University’s football program. Officer Fredette, grew up in Syracuse, New York and is the youngest of three children. Brian’s Christian faith and sense of moral conviction always guided him. Brian holds associate degrees in business and computer information systems.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Two veteran police officers are among the latest to be sworn to protect and serve the citizens of Cocoa.

Edward Hartzell has been a law enforcement officer for more than 4-years. He was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida. He is the middle of three children. He was a defensive back for Kentucky Christian University’s football program.

He finished his associate degree at Eastern Florida State College. He graduated from the college’s Criminal Justice Academy in January 2019. Hartzell says his cousin, who is in law enforcement, influenced him to become a police officer.

Officer Brian Fredette has been a law enforcement officer for more than 4 years. Prior to that, he served 4-years in the U.S. Navy as a military police officer.

Officer Fredette, grew up in Syracuse, New York and is the youngest of three children. Brian’s Christian faith and sense of moral conviction always guided him. Brian holds associate degrees in business and computer information systems.

He attended the police academy at Florida State College in Jacksonville and graduated in December, 2018.
