Eastern Florida State Men’s Soccer Defeats University of Fort Lauderdale in Record-Setting Fashion

Titans scored a program-record 17 times

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer team had a historic day at Orlando Health Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The 10th-ranked Titans scored a program-record 17 times, defeating the University of Fort Lauderdale 17-1 at home to improve to 2-0 on the season.

It was also a big day for freshman Daiki Okada who tied a school record with six goals as he would score once in the first half and then five times in the second half. His final goal was his best goal of the day, hitting a round kick past the goalkeeper with 6:43 remaining in the contest. He was taken out following the goal, ending his big day. Okada’s performance tied Cleef Desir who scored six times in 2014 against Andrew College.

The game started an hour late, but when the game did start the Titans were ready as Daniele Verdirosi scored a minute into the contest. Pedro Amancio made it 2-0 3 minutes 30 seconds into the game.

Defender George Wyatt made it 3-0 and Mukisa Emmanuel scored with 32:40 remaining in the first half. Verdirosi scored his second goal to make it 5-0 and then Luc Lenz scored twice and Okada would score to head into halftime leading 8-0.

Okada took over in the second half, scoring the ninth, 11th, 12th, and 13th goals as well as the 16th goal of the game.

Isaak Torisson scored twice in the second half and Siphesilhe Maseko and Peter Giorges would all score for the Titans.

The 17 goals broke the 15-goal performance against Andrew College in 2014.

The Titans will travel to Daytona State College to play USC Lancaster on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be shown live online by Daytona State College.
