Is VR the Logical Next Step in Gaming?
By Space Coast Daily // September 17, 2023
Virtual Reality (VR) Gaming is still a relatively new form of video gaming, but over the past few years, both the games and the wearable VR headsets have come on leaps and bounds.
The question being asked here is, will VR be the next logical step in gaming? Let’s dive straight in to find out.
Is Virtual Reality the future of gaming?
Virtual Reality could very well be the future of gaming. More affordable VR headsets from today’s market-leading manufacturers continue to hit the market, and the amazing quality of games, coupled with super-fast internet speeds, has made VR gaming more appealing than ever.
Meta, for example, is trying to make VR more engaging to a broader audience by creating some amazing apps. Some of the companies that produce VR headsets are also producing other wearable VR technology, including gloves, and full-body suits, to make the VR experience even more immersive and realistic.
It’s still early days, but the way things are going, the future of gaming could very well end up being dominated by Virtual Reality gaming. We will just have to wait and see.
One of the downfalls of VR, however, is inconvenience. For those who enjoy playing games on a digital platform, they do so because it’s convenient and efficient – it’s a gaming console that lives in your pocket!
Headsets, on the other hand, will be more cumbersome to carry around and – at least for the foreseeable future – awkward to wear as well.

I don’t have a VR headset yet; which one should I buy?
It all depends on how much money you are willing to spend on a VR headset. Some are far more affordable than others.
In 2023, the most popular VR headsets money can buy are the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Oculus Go, MERGE VR Goggles, Meta Quest 2, and Samsung HMD Odyssey Headset. Two other notable VR headsets are the PlayStation VR and Samsung Gear VR.
Before purchasing one of these impressive devices, remember to read plenty of reviews and set yourself a budget before spending all your money on a VR headset. Also, remember to shop around for the best deals and don’t just buy something from the first website you find.
Can VR headsets be used for things other than gaming?
Yes. Apart from just playing games, you can also do many other things, such as exercise with the latest VR fitness apps.
You can also visit some of the world’s greatest monuments and landscapes with fantastic travel and adventure apps, or you can use your VR headset to attend music concerts and watch some of your favourite artists.
You can even get a front-row seat on the Apollo 11 spaceship and experience the iconic mission to space. That’s not all.
Some people like to put on their VR headsets to watch movies and television shows on major streaming sites like Netflix, Disney+ and Prime, and others like to create virtual living rooms and hang out with their friends.
There’s so much more to do with your VR Headset other than just playing VR games. The possibilities are endless.
