In a surprising move, “Twitter” which is considered the social media giant recently unveiled its new logo on April 3rd, 2023 (Monday). The inexplicable change from a classic bluebird logo to a “Doge” was surprising.
The Shiba Inu dog that spawned a classic meme was replaced with a bluebird.
Many eagle-eyed users of Twitter were wondering why does Twitter have a doge, and why Elon Musk does this. People were confused by a lot of statements. Later, it became the unofficial symbol of Musk-backed cryptocurrency Dogecoin.
Here are a few theories regarding the sudden switch of Twitter’s logo.
But after so much debate regarding it, Ellen Musk tweeted an explanation. He shared a screenshot and mentioned the exchange he had with the user @WSBChairman.
@WSBChairman Joke with Musk and said he should just “buy Twitter” and “change the bird logo to a doge”. Later, he states having Doge as the logo would be “Sickkk”.
The another theory regarding the sudden change in Twitter’s logo was that it was an April Fool’s Day prank that played later. This is because the Doge was replaced a couple of days after 1st April 2023.
Fortune stated that the sudden switch must be due to Musk’s love and investment in Dogecoin. Dogecoin was introduced as a sarcastic and fun alternative to existing cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

During that phase, the logo change pushed the value of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency up by 20%.
Some users do not find it amusing at all. In fact, they opposed Elon Musk’s decision. While many cringed at the joke and pointed out the flaws of the social media giant “Twitter”.
Twitter Blue remains the complaint point for many users. One of the users Tweeted:
“Look, it’s the exact same user experience it’s always been, except verified and paid accounts are identical, retweets don’t say retweets anymore, there’s a doge icon we can’t get rid of, and the site administrators a small but painful shock at random intervals”.
Later, reporters from Reuters revealed that Elon Musk is facing a lawsuit that involves his public support of Dogecoin from investors. This might be considered as a stunt related to the lawsuit or a way to publicly mock the suit.
