The Florida Highway Patrol has reported a a 29-year-old Melbourne woman was killed, and two suffered minor injuries as a result of a crash on southbound Interstate-95 in Sebastian on Friday.

BREVARD COUNTY • SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol has reported a a 29-year-old Melbourne woman was killed, and two suffered minor injuries as a result of a crash on southbound Interstate-95 in Sebastian.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Tara Crescenzi, the fatal crash happened on Friday afternoon at 1:43 p.m.

Lt. Crescenzi said a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu stopped in the inside lane of I-95 with the hazard lights flashing and was struck by a 2021 Toyota Corolla.

The crash occurred when the Toyota Corolla driver, a 29-year-old woman from Melbourne, was attempting to switch to the center lane when the front left of the Toyota hit the Malibu, which then veered off the road and struck a guardrail.  Due to the impact, the Corolla overturned onto its roof.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin.

According to Lt. Crescenzi, a 33-year-old Lake Park man, and a 31-year-old Melbourne woman, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
