Wayne Younger Accepts job as Assistant Director of Player Personnel

Wayne Younger was officially announced as the new Assistant Director of Player Personnel at the University of Missouri.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA –  When Rockledge Raiders head football coach Wayne Younger announced he would be stepping down after nine seasons as the head coach, it sent shockwaves through the prep football community.

Younger reignited the Raiders football program during his tenure and heralded as one of Brevard County’s top teams each season under his watch.

So it’s no surprise that Wayne Younger had bigger opportunities awaiting him after so many years as a successful high school coach.

What was a surprise was that opportunity would be a job in the SEC. Wayne Younger was officially announced as the new Assistant Director of Player Personnel at the University of Missouri.

His duties include, but not limited to, ensuring potential student-athletes have relevant information and incoming student-athletes have all materials submitted for admittance. He will also monitor admissions status of incoming student-athletes and monitor progress-toward-degree requirements and eligibility status.

Last season, Younger was the longest-tenured head coach in Brevard County after accepting the job back in 2015.

During his tenure, he finished with an overall record of 64-35.

Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer Tyrone Giscombe was recently named Younger’s successor at Rockledge and will take over as head coach after working on his staff last season as an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

The Missouri Tigers finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 11-2, finishing second in the SEC East to Georgia. The Tigers then went on to defeat Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl 14-3.
