BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Department‘s K9 Bak retired after years of dedicated service.

“After years of dedicated service to our community, K9 Bak is hanging up his badge and enjoying a well-deserved retirement,” said a Palm Bay Police spokesperson.

“Bak will now spend his golden years relaxing at home with Sgt. Morris, who has been by his side for his entire career as his handler. Thank you, Bak, for keeping our community safe!”

The Palm Bay Police Department currently has four K9 teams. These teams are among the best and most highly trained in the State of Florida.

The K9 teams are assigned to the Uniform Services Division and are cross-trained for handler protection, building search, area search, tracking, evidence search, and drug detection.

All teams are certified through FDLE as patrol dogs, which is a minimum standard. The dogs and their handlers must train hundreds of hours to become re-certified to work in the public arena.
