BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team will be home for the final time this season in a key conference game Wednesday night.
The Titans will play Florida Southwestern State College in a battle of top 20 teams in the nation. It will be the final time the five sophomores will take the court at Titan Field House as Ashleigh Battle, Lynn Rieth, Nia Santiago, Silvia Otokhagua and E’Zaria Adams will be recognized following the game.
And it should be a good game as the last meeting went to overtime with the Bucs pulling out the win, 79-75.
Each team had four players score in double figures as sophomore E’Zaria Adams had a season-high 26 points for the Titans while Samantha Serrano had 25 for the Bucs.
Eastern Florida State College has won five in a row and is one game behind Florida Southwestern in the Citrus Conference standings. Florida Southwestern, who has won the first two meetings, comes into the contest 11-1 in the conference and 17-4 overall and ranked 15th in the latest NJCAA Division I national poll.
Florida Southwestern’s Ivy Brown led the attack on Saturday with 17 points and has scored at least 12 points in each of the past three games for the Bucs. Serrano comes into Wednesday’s game averaging 18.9 points per game and has scored at least 20 points in eight of the past 10 games. Serrano is tied for third in the FCSAA in points per game this season.
Adams and Karen Nimo lead the Eastern Florida State College attack, both averaging 11 points per game. Nimo is coming off a big fourth quarter against Hillsborough Community College, scoring 16 points while Ashleigh Battle had 15 in the win.
Wednesday night’s game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and admission to Titan Field House is free. The game will also be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page. It is also the final Alumni Game Day of the basketball season with games and giveaways at halftime.
