BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — The City of Cocoa was awarded a Florida Local Government Cybersecurity Grant on May 12, administered by the Florida Digital Service.
This grant, part of Round 2 of the Year 2 funding cycle, supports the renewal of key cybersecurity capabilities originally acquired by the City last year.
These resources help enhance the City’s ability to detect and respond to cyber threats in real time.
The City of Cocoa will continue to use these tools to protect public data, ensure secure digital operations, and maintain reliable services for residents, businesses, and City staff.
The Local Government Cybersecurity Grant Program is a $40 million competitive grant funded through Section 200 of the enacted Florida FY 2024–25 General Appropriations Act.
The program equips local governments with software, services, and solutions designed to enhance their cybersecurity posture, helping protect critical infrastructure and Floridians’ personal data.
This grant has helped nearly 200 local governments enhance their cybersecurity infrastructure. Through this program, the State of Florida successfully turned a $30 million investment into $300 million worth of deployed cybersecurity capabilities, becoming a national leader in cybersecurity.
The City of Cocoa prioritizes cybersecurity to safeguard critical infrastructure, emergency services, including 911, personal data, and essential public services. Cybersecurity is not just a technical concern—it is a foundational element of responsible and resilient governance.
