Health First's Holmes Regional Medical Center earns prestigious ‘A’ grade

Holmes Regional Medical Center, home of the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, earned the top grade of ‘A’
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – All four Health First hospitals earned high marks – including a prestigious ‘A’ for Holmes Regional Medical Center – and 3 ‘B’s for Viera, Palm Bay and Cape Canaveral Hospitals on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade ratings for Spring 2025.
This national distinction celebrates Health First’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors.
An independent national watchdog organization, the Leapfrog Group assigns a letter grade (A-F) to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the spring and fall.

“This is such a tremendous honor that reflects so highly on each and every one of our Health First associates who care for our valued patients – even before they step foot on one of our hospital campuses. I am so grateful for our associates and inspired daily by the incredible dedication, skill, and compassion they show for our patients and the Brevard community,” said Health First President and CEO Terry Forde.
“The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade ratings have long been among the most consistent and thorough measurements of how well hospitals keep their valued patients safe, and they help guide us in our mission to provide outstanding patient care – while maintaining the highest level of safety standards across our organization.”

“This ‘A’ rating is a well-deserved recognition, and a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and tireless effort our associates deliver for our patients every day,” said Angelica Rastegarlari, Chief Operating Officer, Hospital Division and Holmes Regional Medical Center.
“Today we celebrate this standard of excellence our hospitals and community have grown accustomed to, while we further commit ourselves to continuous growth and improvement.”
Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center has consistently been named the top hospital in Brevard County, and Health First’s four hospitals in 2024 earned a combined total of 14 “High Performing Specialty” designations as part of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals report.
In addition to being ranked the No. 1 hospital in Brevard County, Holmes Regional Medical Center in 2024 was ranked No. 17 in the state of Florida (among more than 300 hospitals.)
