Man Surrenders After Barricading Himself With Children in Palm Bay Home

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – A domestic disturbance in a Palm Bay neighborhood prompted a significant police response Friday after a man barricaded himself inside a residence with three children, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Paisley Street NW, where they found the man refusing to exit the home. Police quickly established a perimeter around the residence and issued multiple commands for him to surrender.

After continued announcements from officers, the man eventually exited the home and was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.

The three children who were inside the residence were unharmed. Police said they are safe and will be reunited with family members.

Although there was a substantial police presence in the neighborhood during the standoff, officials emphasized that the situation was contained to the residence and there was no threat to the public.

Officers remained at the scene Friday evening as the investigation continued.
