BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – While December is the most wonderful time of the year, it’s also the time of year when we see more people making Grinch-like decisions to drink and drive.

For example, last night our Deputies responded to a hit and run on I-95 where a driver was on the side of the road with his disabled vehicle, when a white sedan pulled up behind him and hit his car, thankfully at a low rate of speed.

As if that weren’t concerning enough, the driver of the white sedan, Shannan Miller, put the car in reverse, backed up, and then hit the vehicle again. After the second hit, the victim tried to address Miller, who then took off around him and fled south on 95.

At the same time, the bumper car scenario was taking place, our dispatch received a call about a possible drunk driver going approximately 30 mph on I-95, which, as you could probably guess, ended up being the same driver.

Deputy Daren Fedro responded to the area and was able to stop the vehicle off the interstate and conduct a DUI investigation. While asking for Miller’s ID, which she had trouble locating, Deputy Fedro observed an almost empty bottle of Fireball on the passenger seat.

Now, as if things weren’t exciting enough, as Miller was exiting the vehicle, she had trouble standing, but agreed to participate in the Drunk Olympics exercises, which didn’t go too well for her.

On a positive note, she did excell in the breath test portion of the Drunk Olympics as she blew an impressive .173 and a .169!

Miller was ultimately brought to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge for DUI, Leaving The Scene of a Crash With Damage, and DUI With Damage To Property.

Folks, no one likes a Grinch at Christmas or any time of the year, for that matter, so stop putting people’s lives in jeopardy, and our Deputies won’t have to lock your butt up!
