SHERIFF IVEY: Perp he has a No Bond Value Package stay at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge
BREVARD SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: Like a movie scene out of Ocean’s Eleven, John Higgins was out heisting and shysting. Now he has a No Bond Value Package stay at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge, where stealing is definitely not recommended, as his new roommates probably won’t like that very much!
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Like a movie scene out of Ocean’s Eleven, John Higgins was out heisting and shysting!
Back in June, our agency received a call from a comic book store stating that someone had stolen a certified first edition “Walking Dead” comic book…and if you’re like me, you may not know the value of that, and in fact, to be honest, I didn’t even know there was a Walking Dead comic book.
Well, anyways, apparently this particular comic book was graded through a certified company, giving it a serial number and value of $2,000.
The store had planned to bring the comic book to an event when they realized they couldn’t locate it.
As a result, our Deputies subsequently obtained all of the needed information and entered the comic book into the state system as stolen.
The case was assigned to Agent Dylan Weber, who in August received information that this particular item had been pawned up in Port Orange.
Agent Weber went to the pawn store to obtain video and see who pawned the item, and just like in the movie, there was Higgins caught red-handed on camera.
And to make things even better, Higgins is a frequent flyer at the pawn store, as the employees are very familiar with him.
As a result, Agent Weber located Higgins earlier today and questioned him about the pawn transactions.
Now here’s where things get really good…Higgins said he got the comic book from his dead friend, and of course we all know dead men tell no tales…or walk, for that matter (get it…Walking Dead), oh well, anyways!
On top of the theft he committed at the comic book store, Higgins also had a warrant from the Melbourne Police Department for stealing a high-dollar Pokémon card and trying to sell it to another store.
Agent Weber arrested Higgins for dealing in Stolen Property and False Verification of Ownership to a Pawnbroker, as well as on the Melbourne Police Department warrant.
Now he has a No Bond Value Package stay at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge, where stealing is definitely not recommended, as his new roommates probably won’t like that very much!
On a bright note, since Higgins likes trading cards so much, at the time of his booking we gave him a Sheriff Wayne Ivey and K-9 Saint Baseball Card that has absolutely zero dollar value but is a great conversation piece…especially in the Brevard County Jail!
Another great job by our team at locking up criminals who take advantage of our citizens and hard-working business owners. Remember, criminals…in Brevard County, we have zero tolerance for crime and even less for criminals!
