Deadly A1A Crash Under Investigation by Florida Highway Patrol

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — An 81-year-old woman from Indian Harbour Beach was killed Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross State Road A1A at Eau Gallie Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred on December 4, 2025, at approximately 5:49 p.m. at the busy intersection in Brevard County.
Investigators reported that the woman was crossing eastbound across the southbound lanes of State Road A1A when she entered the direct path of an oncoming vehicle. She was not using a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.
The vehicle involved was a 2012 Fiat 500 traveling southbound on A1A, driven by an 86-year-old man from Indialantic. The front of the car struck the pedestrian, causing critical injuries.
The woman was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. Her next of kin has been notified.
The driver remained at the scene and was not injured in the crash. Authorities confirmed he was wearing a seatbelt and was not taken to the hospital.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been announced.
FHP is reminding drivers and pedestrians to remain alert, especially in high-traffic areas, and urges pedestrians to use designated crosswalks whenever possible.
This remains a developing story.
