Program Explores Mystique Of Thousand Islands

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Enrollment is under way for an informative program at the Cocoa Beach Public Library about the nearby Thousand Islands.

“Learn About the Thousand Islands” is the fourth installment of the Brevard Naturalist Program and will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27, at the library.

The program features classroom presentations by subject experts and will be followed by a paddling trip through the Thousand Islands led by biologist Tim Kozusko and naturalist/paddling guide Jim Durocher.

This workshop is offered to build knowledge of the Thousand Islands, the Indian River Lagoon and the environmental work at Port Canaveral.

The cost to participate is $50 if a kayak is needed or $35 if you bring a kayak or canoe.

Entry fees will be treated as donations to the Friends of the Thousand Islands to benefit land conservation and passive recreation.

The program is limited to 25 participants.
