Posey To Host Congressional Art Competition

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Congressman Bill Posey of Rockledge is hosting the 2013 Congressional Art Competition next month.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at the Brevard Community College Planetarium in Cocoa.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all public, private, and home school high school students and is being held in congressional districts across the nation.

Artwork must meet submission guidelines and all required forms must be completed and submitted with artwork for judging.

The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for the entire year and cannot be returned prior to the end of the exhibit.

The first and second runners up will have their art displayed in Congressman Posey’s Washington and Florida offices respectively.

No late entries will be accepted.

Judging begins at noon and formal award ceremonies begin at 1 p.m.

“This is a great opportunity for talented young artists in the 8th District to get inspired about something patriotic and showcase their work to our community,” Posey said.

The 2013 Congressional Art Competition is presented by Posey in coordination with the Brevard Cultural Alliance and the BCC Planetarium.
