PARK ENDORSED BY MOVIE ICON
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA — Located south of the U.S 1, SR 50 intersection in Titusville, Tropical Wonderland was a small, nature-centered themed park endorsed by Tarzan actor Johnny Weissmuller.
Built in 1959 as “Florida Wonderland”, the park became known as “Tropical Wonderland” in 1971, when Johnny Weissmuller, star of the “Tarzan” movies endorsed the park. Tropical Wonderland closed its doors in 1973. An economic recovery for the park was short-lived after Weissmuller pulled his endorsement from the park, citing mistreatment of the animals.
The park featured animals including dolphins, a petting zoo zoo, boat ride, and, amusement rides. All images below are courtesy of the Florida/Tropical Wonderland Facebook page. To see more pics of Brevard’s history, visit SpaceCoastDaily.com/brevardhistory
