Congressman Posey Comments on Federal Shutdown

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released a statement regarding the federal government shutdown. Posey will forgo his pay while the federal government is shutdown. Below is an excerpt from Posey’s press release regarding the shutdown.
“With the support of Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge), the U.S. House of Representatives today passed a third bill in an effort to keep the federal government open until December 15, 2013 and avoid a shutdown. The new House-passed legislation also includes a one-year delay in the health care law’s individual mandate and eliminates the special exemption and subsidy for all Members of Congress, the President, and all Administration political appointees.
“Tonight the House passed a third Continuing Resolution to keep the government operating through December 15th, so there’s no disruption,” said Congressman Posey. “The legislation also provides temporary relief to American workers by delaying the individual mandate for one year, a privilege the Administration recently afforded to large businesses and over a thousand special interest groups. Furthermore, this bill completely eliminates Obamacare’s special exemption and subsidy for Members of Congress, the President and all Administration appointees.
“Many Americans are still struggling to find work and make ends meet because of the policies coming out of Washington. Leaders in Washington should live under the rules they create for everybody else.”
