UNITED WAY OF BREVARD RECEIVES $1,000
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Professional Firefighters Benevolent Association has made donations to three charities thanks to T-shirt sales among personnel within Brevard County Fire Rescue.

Presented with the option to purchase a T-shirt with proceeds benefitting a good cause, and be allowed to wear that shirt on shift in place of the traditional uniform shirt, many firefighters and support personnel rallied their dollars.
In its second year of sales during October, 712 shirts honoring breast cancer awareness were sold and raised enough to generate $4,000 in donations.
The BCPFF Benevolent presented a check for $2,000 to the International Association of Firefighters Charitable Foundation to support firefighters and/or their family members with cancer. A second $2,000 check went to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

That successful campaign was followed in November by sales of 190 shirts that allowed BCPFF Benevolent to present a check to United Way of Brevard for $1,000.

It was the second year for both T-shirt fundraising campaigns and the plan is to continue both annually.
Brevard County Professional Firefighters Benevolent Association is a non-profit organization that was created to aid and assist sick and injured firefighters and their families in Brevard County, as well as aid other local charities.
“Our Benevolent and our union, Brevard County Firefighters Local 2969, were honored to assist these two great causes again this year,” said Chris Disciascio, Local 2969 treasurer and Benevolent chairperson.
“We pride ourselves on helping our communities and this is just another example of the good we can do when we choose to work together. Thank you to our management for allowing us to conduct these fundraisers on duty.”
