EFSC Men Fall 2-1 in Overtime to Georgia Perimeter

MEN’S SOCCER — Eastern Florida’s men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Georgia Perimeter College in Statesboro, Georgia on Sunday.

“We cannot finish, it is so frustrating,” said Eastern Florida head coach Oliver Twelvetrees.

The loss dropped Eastern Florida to 2-2 on the season. Georgia Perimeter improved to 5-0. Freshman Shahri Sepehri scored off a corner kick in the 69th minute for the Titans who then surrendered the winning goal in the seventh minute of overtime.

The Titans outshot Perimeter 26-8 with six of the shots on goal. Sophomore Jorge Madera played the entire game in goal for the Titans making four saves.

The Titans return to the Melbourne Campus for three games beginning with Friday’s 8 p.m. home opener against Jefferson College. 

Eastern Florida Men Blank Georgia Military 2-0

MEN’S SOCCER — Eastern Florida’s men’s soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season on Saturday defeating host Georgia Military 2-0 in Milledgeville.

Sophomore Jorge Madera kept a clean sheet in goal allowing the Titans to record their second straight shutout.

“Jorge made some great saves,” said Eastern Florida head coach Oliver Twelvetrees.

“He made three really, really good saves.”

Sophomore Ivan Magalhaes and freshman Colton Johnson scored for the Titans, both coming on assists from Justin Gavin in the 77th and 79th minutes respectively.

Eastern Florida dominated play in the first half but missed several scoring chances allowing Georgia Military to threaten in the second half.

But Madera and his defense stood strong and Magalhaes and Johnson scored to put the game away.

Eastern Florida concludes its Georgia trip with a 1 p.m. Sunday match with Georgia Perimeter at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
