Eastern Florida Basketball Starts Season With A Victory

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s men’s basketball team started its season with a bang on Friday, defeating Clinton Junior College of South Carolina 85-48 on the first day of the Daytona State Top-Off Classic in Daytona Beach.

The victory was the 90th at EFSC for head coach Jeremy Shulman.

Freshman Djordje Beronja led the Titans with 21 points. Sophomore Demetrius McReynolds contributed 14 as did freshman Marcus Barham. Sophomore Jermohn Queen added 13.

The Titans scored 46 points in the second half.

“I was proud of the way the guys played today against a talented and scrappy Clinton team,” Shulman said.

“We brought a lot of energy from early in the game and I thought we did a great job on the boards. I’m excited to get back on the court again on Saturday.”

EFSC wraps up the Classic at 2 p.m. Saturday against Southeastern Illinois and plays its home opener at 7 p.m. Tuesday on the Melbourne Campus against ASA-Miami.
